This morning I received a phone call from a very pleasant lady from Missouri. She said that they had bought the Country Living Mill several months ago and that they had been very happy with it, it gave them beautiful flour. They used wheat that they had stored in their freezer. When they had ground the last of their freezer stored wheat they purchased more grain, packaged in paper bags, from a nearby bulk food store. They then stored the mill and the wheat in their basement. After a couple…

Selected for Canadian Grain Commission Education Exhibition

September 1, 2015

Free

MSRP:

As part of an educational and informational program demonstrating at exhibitions and schools nationwide, the Canadian Grain Commission selected the Country Living Grain Mill to illustrate the concepts of self-sufficiency and whole living. For many of the children (and even some of the adults) this was their first introduction to the process of breadmaking and they were amazed to find out that their bread came from somewhere else besides the local grocery store. Below are a series of pictures from the Calgary Exhibition. As part of the Canadian Grain Commision’s…

Baking, Biking, and the Country Living Grain Mill

September 1, 2015

MSRP:

Dear Mr. Jenkins, We purchased the mill quite a long time ago, late 80s or early 90s, and I have used it on and off since then, but never so much as I have in the past couple of years. I used to have it clamped to the peninsula in the kitchen and I always kept the hopper full because when my kids’ friends came by they enjoyed having contests to see who could grind a hopper the fastest, so you had better believe I was johnny-on-the-spot keeping wheat going…

Hooking up your Mill to an Exercise Bike

September 1, 2015

Free

MSRP:

I suggest that you look for an exercycle with a cast iron flywheel and enough space between the frame and the flywheel to allow you to bring a V-belt out from the hub. It was 4:55 a.m., the time that our alarm radio does its early morning thing. My consciousness was struggling when an announcer began intoning something about “the most fuel-efficient machine in the world. This marvelous machine gets 914 miles per gallon,” he said. Suddenly, I was very awake. Visions of replacing our 12 miles-to-the-gallon van leaped into…

Walden Labs Grain Mill Review

April 1, 2015

MSRP:

Excerpt from Country Living Grain Mill Review – Walden Labs “The benefits of grinding your own grains are many, one benefit being that you avoid the highly processed and refined flour that you buy in the store. That stuff is dead! Whole grain flour is healthier, plus whole grains store much longer than flour. While you could grind your own flour with just stones you’ll want a proper grain mill to do it effectively, for example the Country Living Grain Mill. The Country Living Grain Mill is one of the…

The Manly Man’s Milling Machine

December 18, 2014

MSRP:

Hello Mr. Jenkins, You kindly brought one of your mills to the Grain Gathering at WSU-Mount Vernon in August, where I picked it up. Since then the mill has been out in the shop where my husband has been working on motorizing the mill and making a cart, so the mill can be portable. He worked very hard on this project, during his spare time! I wanted to write and let you know how much I am enjoying the mill, and to send some pictures of what my husband built…

We received the following note from a Country Living Mill owner: “Love our mill.  My father (90 years old) has adopted it — He’d grind flour every day I think!  We really do love it. Here’s a picture from one week in January, so you can see what we’re doing. All sourdough, no added yeast, fresh ground white wheat and rye flours.” -Metra Christofferson

The Most Beautiful Thing in the World

November 21, 2014

Free

MSRP:

The Most Beautiful Thing in The World I took a little, informal poll the other day.  The question wasn’t very controversial and the responses won’t change anybody’s foreign policy or campaign strategy.  But for me?  The answers made my day. I was musing one day over the many lovely things that this old world has to offer, and I was feeling frankly thankful for them all.  As I pondered, my curiosity began to pique.  Surely, though my thankfulness covered a broad spectrum, there were things that I had overlooked.  Perhaps…
