What is Krill Oil?

Derived from the shrimp-like Antarctic krill, this oil is a potent source of Omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acid, phospholipids, and antioxidants. Azantis Krill Oil is far superior to fish oils because of its high absorption rate. The Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity of Azantis Krill is 378 as opposed to a rating of 8 for fish oil.

Unlike other krill products Azantis guarantees rigorous quality and content standards. Each capsule will include the minimum of 42% phospholipids, .15% astaxanthin, 15% EPA, and 9% DHA. Azantis also uses high quality gelatin capsules polished with natural lemon oil to better preserve the krill inside. These higher-quality capsules reduce the fishy smell associated with other companies’ krill products. Each bottle provides a month supply for one person.

What are the Health Benefits of Omega 3's?

Omega 3's are a type of polyunsaturated fatty acid that are essential to the human body.  The body is not able to manufacture them on its own, so it must be derived from food sources.  Oily cold water fish such as salmon, tuna and mackerel are excellent sources of the two principle Omega-3 acids of EPA and DHA (see the chart above for their full names).

Omega 3's are key components of cell membranes and vital to the development of the central nervous system.  They play a pivotal role in regulating blood clotting, blood pressure and inflammation.  EPA is critical for a balanced immune response, and DHA critical for brain function.

What are the Health Benefits of Phospholipids?

Phospholipids are a part of every cell in the body and help form a microscopic barrier that filters out toxins.  They protect against oxidative stress when free-radical molecules break through weakened cell walls.

What are the Health Benefits of Antioxidants?

Antioxidants aid in countering the damaging effects of unstable oxygen molecules known as free radicals, which can cause cell damage known as oxidative stress and contribute to a long list of chronic health problems.

Astaxanthin in one of Krill Oil's most powerful antioxidants, and it is completely esterified- chemically bound to EPA and DHA molecules.  This means that the human body can metabolize it and benefit from its antioxidant qualities.

Why is Krill Oil Superior to Fish Oils?

The chart below assesses the absorption values of various antioxidants and clearly shows the Krill Oil possesses by far the best absorption rate of radical oxygen.

A Personal Note about Krill from Jack Jenkins:

Omega oils have been recognized for centuries to be good for the heart and the general well being.  This is reflected in the many Mediterranean diets and books espousing glowing health.

I too have been convinced of the goodness of the Omega 3 Oils in things like olive oil, walnuts, etc and have been tempted on several occasions to take on a regimen of fish oil, but every time that I checked out the fish oil products I realized they had a very short shelf life and absolutely no guarantee of their purity or potency was ever given.

My interest was renewed when I recently read a report about a neurosurgeon in Pittsburgh that had several hundred patients voluntarily take Omega 3 fish oil to see how efficacious it would be in reducing their pain and inflammation- most of these patients had severe back problems.

Their desire was to get the patients off of the NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) pain killers.  After several months on the fish oil the results were so good over all, that 80% of the study group decided to stay on the Omega 3 Oils.  It was then that I discovered Krill Oil and talked extensively with the processors and encapsulator.  The marvel of their proprietary system is that the encapsulated Krill Oil has a shelf life of almost two years, and as illustrated by the ORAC chart above the antioxidant power is huge when compared to fish oil, vitamin A, vitamin E, and other antioxidants.

The bottom line is that Ann and I have been taking Krill Oil for four months now and for me the results have been dramatic.  I won't list them all, but I'm virtually free of aches and pains and my vision is definitely improved.  My optometrist explained how omega oils improve vision and he immediately ordered a supply of krill oil for his personal use.  My wife, Ann, has had lower back pain for many years now which the medical profession has not been able to resolve in any way.  Though she still has some pain, there has been a definite improvement.

Of course, Krill Oil is not a cure all and as most things it will certainly be more effective for some than others.  Since Copper River Salmon is currently selling for $20.00 a pound and farm salmon is loaded with toxins Krill Oil is a giant winner in my book.  I think it will be a real blessing for those families who decide to incorporate it into their diets.
